On June 4th I will be departing my home town of Cobh, Co. cork and attempting to Sea Kayak Solo Around Ireland in under 35 days. To meet this target I will have to cover an average of 30miles per day spending up to 12 hours in my trusty boat battling strong currents and gusting winds.
In my kayak I will carry all of the equipment I will need for the entire journey including food for up to 10 days at a time. I will restock with food and water as I travel around and will hopefully meet up with some friends to get a hot shower and bed for the night.
Each evening I will make landfall and set up camp and spend the night in my tent before rising with the sun. To fuel me on the journey I will need to consume over 5,000 calories each day.
My kayak for the journey is a Sipre Murano Evo, she is quick stable and capable of carrying all my kit, and of course in the Red and white of Cork!!
