Mike was brought up with adventure and water in his blood.  His adventures began at age 11 when he became a Sea Scout, a decision which has shaped his life for the past 2 decades.

After  spending his teens exploring the waters of Cork Harbour he then ventured into the world of  climbing and mountaineering and has explored the highlands of Scotland in winter and the high Alps of France and Switzerland in summer, at age 18 he successful summited Mont Blanc.

Leaving the frozen ice and snow of the mountains he took to the rivers of the world.  Over a 12 year period he travelled with his kayak making great friends and seeing amazing sights along the way.  In the foothills of the Himalaya he was immersed in the culture of the Kingdom of Nepal while travelling along sacred river.   In Europe he has enjoyed the steep and clear rivers of Corsica and has been truly tested on the immense and powerful rivers of Norway.

In 2010 Mike took on the biggest adventure of his life when joined a crew of 5 others to take on one of the toughest challenges on the planet, to row across the Atlantic Ocean.  On March 11th 2010 the crew of 6 landed safely on the shores of Barbados after a gruelling and life changing 57 Days at sea.
