Yesterday I had my first chance to get out on the coast in my new boat and see how we would cope with the mighty Atlantic, the synopsis is we did good, although the Atlantic was in a pretty subdued mood.  While out on my own on my own training I get a lot of time to ‘ponder’ a variety of topics, some deep some not so much.

Some of the topics up for pondering yesterday were, Wow these cliffs are big!, What is this coast like in a westerly gale? What if that seal surfaced 6 foot closer and knocked me over?  What if a diver surfaced in front of me and I crashed into him? How am I going to pee in a bottle in rough seas?
I also realised that I did not spend a single night during 2011 under canvas or in a sleeping bag, making it the first year in 25 years, or since I purchased my very first tent with my Holy Communion money when I was 6!
