It has been another busy week of training and work and some fundraising organisation too.
Training has been going pretty well, I got 2 long session in on the rowing machine last weekend and have been hitting the gym all week. The weight gain is progressing nicely, over half a stone gained so far another half to go, but I will have Christmas to help with that! I haven’t been back to the rowing tank in a few weeks, work and car trouble have conspired against me, I hope to get back in on Monday morning.
Work has been pretty busy too, although this is normally our quiet time I have had to up my work load to allow for the fact that I will be away for 2 months at the start of next year. But is a pretty small sacrifice in light of the opportunity of rowing across an Ocean.
The main news has been the progress of my fundraising, it is fantastic that so many people have been willing to help out and it looks like it will be a busy couple of months with lots of events happening.
First up is the table quiz next Wednesday in O’Donovan’s bar in Ballina at 8.30pm, this should be a good fun evening and everybody is welcome to come and give there general knowledge a work out.
Following that I am also working on a 5 mile fun run on the 13th December in Killaloe. It is open to people of any ability so whether you are a keen runner or occasional walker then this is a good chance to stretch the legs before you indulge in the Christmas turkey and of course a good chance to raise some money for charity.
Back home in Cobh my Mam and Sister are working on some fantastic festive treats for the local Christmas fayre. If you are in the Cobh area this will be well worth checking out, I will have more details on the time and venue shortly.
I am also working on a Poker night and some bag packing in our local super value. More info on these real soon. And if you have any suggestions for other fundraising events please send them on to me.
Don’t forget you can also now donate online, go to any of the pages on the website and click on the donate button on the bottom of the page. Every €5 raised gets me 1km further across the Atlantic and edges me ever closer to the €25,000 target.
So far I have raised €600, that 120km or rowing, cheers to everybody for the support.
